Dramatherapy at First Steps

Dramatherapy is a form of psychological therapy which utilises the creative arts as a means for verbal and non-verbal expression. The sessions are facilitated by a fully qualified and registered therapist who is there to support and guide clients to work therapeutically at their own level in a safe environment. Individuals do not need any experience in any of the arts. Creative methods are purely used as another medium of expression and exploration. Please see leaflet attachment for more information.
The Therapists: At First Steps we have one qualified Dramatherapists, Sarah, who is able to offer both individual and group therapy to individuals. Sarah has a high level of experience working with eating disorders and mental health.
Low cost provided for FSD service users/carers: Sarah is aware of the lack of therapy available to individuals with food related difficulties and the high expense of private therapy. Therefore, we are pleased to be able to offer low cost therapy to any First Steps Derby service users, regardless of whether they have a diagnosis or not. Our therapist is happy to provide informal meetings where individuals can come and find out more about the therapy – these will be free of charge.

Sarah is registered with the Health Care Professions Council and The British Association of Dramatherapists.
