Eating Disorders In Students Service (EDISS) – Self Help Groups

No booking required

EDISS run regular self-help groups on an ‘every-other week’ basis during term-time. See the leaflet for the group dates and topics. Please note that you don’t have to book a place for the group, we welcome anyone on the day. Friends, family and carers are also welcome to the self-help groups.

Location/times

Groups are held every other Monday of term-time between 6.30pm and 8pm at Nottingham Trent University City Campus.

Address: Think Tank, Students Union Building, Shakespeare Street, Nottingham, NG14GH

Directions: Head into the student’s union through the main entrance and turn immediately left through the glass doors. Continue to the end of the hallway and the group room will be in front of you.

Both NTU and UoN students welcome

Please note that just because the location of the group is NTU premises, we encourage attendance by service users from both universities. We also welcome carers/friends/family members of service users.
We encourage service users to arrive 5 minutes before the group to sign in and get settled and have a ‘no later than 10 minutes’ late policy to ensure the group is not distracted. If service users know they are going to be late, please get in touch with a warning pre-group.

The layout of EDISS self-help groups usually involve one hour of topic-related discussion followed by 30 minutes of social time. This social time is optional and service users are able to leave after the first hour.

Service users write coping strategies in the suitcase so that they can take these away with them wherever they go.
